I was born
and raised in Poland so when I came to New York at age of 23 it was a big
change in my life. In that time I thought that my tastes and preferences are already
specified, but America showed me I was wrong. I cannot talk about whole
America but for sure New York is a brand-name products kingdom. Everywhere I
look I see people with brand-name clothing, Gucci bags or Lactose shoes. In New
York City, even students wear expensive and well known brands which in my country
is quit hard because many people cannot afford these items. Most Polish
students do not work even part time. When it comes to me like most women I love shopping. Shoes and bags are my weaknesses. Since I remember I had a
lot of shoes, and these are the only merchandise that my mother was never angry
about even if I spent all my money on it. Now when I live by myself I have to
watch my spending; however, I still spent too much on shoes. The worst thing is
that I do not have many occasions to
wear most of them, but I still like to have them. I do not pay much attention
to the brands; though, I could not resist a classic Louboutin with a red soles.
However
for everyday use, I rely on more comfortable shoes that is why I like brands
such as Aldo or Birkenstock. Their shoes have specially shaped inserts that
relief joints and provide comfort for my feet.
But my closet is filled with mostly unknown brands
that I just like how they look. I think that brand-name products that I chose
give me a warranty of quality and sense of
luxury. As a teenager I could not afford many items that my peers had,
so now my shoes compensate me that time.
