Title: Antibiotics in Food-producing Animals

Introduction
  1. Possible "Hook" to get the reader interested?
Have you ever wondered what you would do if there would be no medications? Did you ever think that influenza could be a deadly disease?
  1. Definition of Issue or Problem:
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is resistance of a microorganism to an antimicrobial drug that was originally effective for treatment of infections caused by it.
Meat producing companies overuse antibiotic to accelerate faster growth of livestock which increase presence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in meat.
U.S. meat industry use antibiotic in livestock plants to prevent diseases spreading in unhygienic conditions that are typical for meat producing facilities.
Antibiotic- resistant bacteria threatens the effective treatment of common diseases among people. Increasing rates of antibiotic-resistant bacteria can
  1. Claim or Call to Action:
Antibiotics in food-producing animals have negative effects on humans’ health.

Body Paragraph
  1. Main Point, Idea, or Issue:
Antibiotics are widely use in food production not only to cure diseases among animals.
  1. Supporting Information:
The FDA approve many kinds of antibiotic to use in livestock husbandry.
Livestock plants use antibiotics to non-therapeutic purposes because they want to speed up the growth of animals. Faster growth means lower costs of living animals, so meat producing companies can generate higher revenues.
  1. Supporting Details or Data:
Table with antimicrobial drugs and drug classes approved for use in food-producing animals.
New FDA policy that tries to reduce antibiotics that promote growth in livestock.

Body Paragraph
4.      Main Point, Idea, or Issue:
Overuse of antibiotic in animals husbandry cause spreading of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
5.      Supporting Information:
Antibiotics that are use for non-therapeutic use in livestock lose their purpose to cure
6.      Supporting Details or Data:
Data about meat contaminated with antibiotic-resistant bacteria published by the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System
The New York Times article about increasing rates of antibiotic resistant bacteria in meat.

Body Paragraph
7.      Main Point, Idea, or Issue:
Antibiotic resistance is a serious threat for humans’ health.
8.      Supporting Information:
There are scientific evidence for the presence of antibiotic- resistant bacteria in meat consumed by humans.
If people become resistant to antibiotics more people will die due to so far treatable diseases.
9.      Supporting Details or Data:
Study about antibiotic-resistance genes in poultry meat.
The World Health Organization report about implications for human health due to antibiotic-resistant bacteria present in animal foods.
